Water heater repair and replacement

Twenty years of these, across every major brand.

We specialize in repairing residential and commercial electric, gas and tankless water heaters, and we have experience with all of the top brands. If you are searching for water heater repair near you, we serve homeowners in Dripping Springs, Southwest Austin and throughout the Texas Hill Country.

Call and we will help diagnose the issue, check your manufacturer's warranty status, and schedule the repair. Knowing whether the unit is still under warranty changes the answer, so it is worth checking before anyone starts work.

What we repair

Done properly, because the failure modes are not gentle ones.

We diagnose and fix the fault accurately, whether it is a single failed part or something more involved. Water heaters bring together gas lines, electrical wiring and water at high temperature, which is why this is not a job to attempt around.

Professional repair also protects your warranty: many manufacturers require licensed work to keep coverage intact.

Same-day where we can

The common parts are already on the truck.

We stock the most common replacement parts, so most repairs happen on the first visit. If you are running out of hot water too quickly, have no hot water at all, hear unusual noises, or notice a leak, we will diagnose and repair it.

Occasionally a repair needs a part specific to your brand and model. When that happens we order it directly from the manufacturer after a complete diagnosis, rather than guessing and fitting something close.

Considering tankless instead?

  • Cade came out and spent the time to track down the source of our issue-the builders plumber had run the recirculating line all around the house before terminating it in the master bathroom. By the time it got there the water was cold, not hot. It took a long time to get hot water. He gave me a solution and an estimate to fix it correctly. Had him come back to do the job and voila , we have hot water in our master bathroom. Highly recommend Proficient, they are friendly, fair and honest. They get the job done right.

  • Great experience with these folks! From initial call to Garrett, who replaced our water heater, this group was professional, friendly and had us back in hot water (in the good way) in just a few hours. Everyone we talked with was good at their job and made things happen. That's a rarity any more. Highly recommend!

Common questions

What usually goes wrong.

Do you repair hot water heaters?

Yes. Whether you call it a hot water heater or simply a water heater, our experienced plumbers repair gas, electric, and tank-style water heaters from all major manufacturers.

What Causes a Water Heater to Stop Working?

The most obvious thing that can affect a water heater is sediment buildup, especially as the water heater in your house gets older. When the water is being heated, minerals like magnesium and calcium stick to the sides of the burner and tank. If these mineral particles aren't properly filtered out of the water heater, they develop a sediment barrier that will probably fall and settle on the burner and severely affect your water heater's performance. The best approach to keep your water heater in good order is a regular water heater inspection, water filtration service and water heater repairs.

Why Does My Water Heater Keep Leaking?

With time, water heaters can experience different kinds of leakages. Though you might not think a small leak is worrying, according to reports, 13.7% of all water waste results from leaks. If you think the water heater installed in your home is losing water, take a more detailed look. Sometimes the inner tank might have a crack, or one of the pipe fittings might have become loose. Try to understand where the leak originated from to better describe the issue to our water heater repair service experts over the phone. While leaks with certain sources can often be repaired or patched by our experts, a widespread leaking issue could mean that your whole water heater system requires replacement.
